Urban Information Systems OpenCourseWare: A Free Graduate Study Urban Planning Course by MIT

Urban Information Systems: Course Description
Students who take advantage of this free OpenCourseWare are exposed to current research and literature in urban planning and development. This course examines city knowledge, growth management, land market monitoring and the role information technology plays in each. Students take this course to pursue their Ph.D. Urban Studies and Planning while learning the benefits geographic information systems provide to local governments. This knowledge is applied to individual projects or thesis proposals. Literature and emerging technology are examined as part of the course. Students are free to select a specialized area of study related to their other graduate projects. 'Urban Information Systems' is guided by MIT Professor Joseph Ferreira Jr.
