Radiative Transfer: Course Description
'Radiative Transfer' is taught by Professor Gang Chen and designed for students who are interested in the mechanics of how heat is transferred. Specific course topics include laser radiation, radiative transfer in emitting, absorbing and scattering media, and electromagnetic wave theory. Many lessons are devoted to the study of radiative transfer within certain applications, including furnaces, infrared instruments, laser-material interactions, combustion and high temperature processing. Students will complete six problem sets, take two exams and read lecture notes and assigned texts. This class was originally offered in the spring of 2006 in a lecture format and is intended for graduate students.
Lecture notes, assignments and exams are available on the course homepage. If you are interested in taking this course, please visit the radiative transfer course page.
