Molecular Aspects of Chemical Engineering: Course Description
'Molecular Aspects of Chemical Engineering' was a course option for students pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in MIT's Chemical Engineering Department. Professor Paula Hammond designed the original course. Students in this course study intermolecular interactions within the solid and liquid states, as well as their manipulation and use. Students are introduced to the concepts of self-assembly and molecular design from a chemical viewpoint. Specific topics include dielectric constants, solvation, molecular adsorption, solid state hydrogen bonding and micellar systems. Professor Hammond presented 'Molecular Aspects of Chemical Engineering' in a lecture format.
'Molecular Aspects of Chemical Engineering' OpenCourseWare includes a reading list and assignments in .pdf format. If you'd like to learn more about this free online course from MIT, please visit the chemical engineering at the molecular level course page.
