Algebraic Combinatorics: Course Description
Taught by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Professor Alexander Postnikov, 'Algebraic Combinatorics' studies the relationship of algebra to combinatorics. 'Algebraic Combinatorics' focuses on topics like matching theory, combinatorics of polytypes and algebraic graph theory. Students will also study Young's Lattice and the Matrix-Tree Theorem among other fundamental combinatoric theorems. In addition, the course also includes an examination of common applications of combinatorics, like the optimization of electrical networks. Readings for this undergraduate-level course are selected from textbooks, including Wilson's A Course in Combinatorics.
