CUNY Queens College Overview
Queens College (QC) was founded in 1937 and awarded its first bachelor's degrees in 1941. The college is classified by U.S. News and World Report, www.usnews.com, as tier one in its master's university (North) category. Research for cultural, academic and religious groups, such as Italian Americans, neuroscience, education improvement and Asians, is conducted in Queens College's academic centers and institutes.
U.S. News and World Report ranked QC 18th on its list of 2009's 'Top Public Schools-Master's-North'. The student population at QC is over 19,500 and the college opened its first residence hall, The Summit, in 2009. Campus life has more than 100 teams and students organizations, including an arts program that offers gallery shows and readings.
Admission and Enrollment Overview
QC has specific admission requirements for its freshmen, transfer, re-entry, non-degree and graduate applicants. Campus Facilities and Learning Environment
The Queens College Libraries houses the Benjamin Rosenthal, art center and music libraries, which have a total of over 800,000 books and more than 48,000 electronic and print materials, bound periodicals and slides. Students will have access to laptop rentals, photocopying, thesis bonding and individual or group study spaces.
QC has a student-faculty ratio of 15:1. There are over 350 Macintosh and Windows computers available for general or classroom use. Queens College Education Abroad provides opportunities to study abroad in Italy, Spain, Hawaii, Israel and Japan.
