The Open University (OU) offers an OpenCourseWare called 'Evolution Through Natural Selection' free online. The course provides a basic understanding of Charles Darwin's theory of natural selection to undergraduate students interested in Biology, Chemistry, Zoology and other scientific fields. This course teaches students about the underlying assumptions of Darwin's theory of evolution and the circumstances needed for natural selection to occur.

Evolution Through Natural Selection: Course Description

'Evolution Through Natural Selection' is an introductory-level undergraduate course offered by The Open University's Science Department. This course teaches students the basics of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution and natural selection. Students learn a brief history of Darwin, the four underlying assumptions of Darwin's theory and the three circumstances needed for natural selection to occur. The course provides students with an example of Darwin's theory in action, a discussion of how natural selection shapes populations of guppies. Students should be able to complete this course in approximately four hours.
