Computer Graphics Career Summary

Computer graphic specialists use computers and related software programs to create and manipulate electronic images. A project often begins with sketches or layouts that are presented to clients with the computer graphic specialist's original ideas for the image. Upon approval, a computer graphic specialist uses such computer programs as Adobe Photoshop, 3ds Max and AC3D to create the image. The Computer Graphics specialist often works in 3D design, and uses computer aided design systems (CAD) to reproduce images of buildings, automobiles and environments. A computer graphic specialist must be aware of new technological advances and be able to adapt to them.

Education Required to Become a Computer Graphics Specialist

The most important asset to a Computer Graphics specialist is his or her portfolio. Employers look for computer graphic specialists who show talent, innovation, and familiarity with a variety of software applications, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
