Vatterott College Review

Vatterott College has more than 175 courses at 22 campuses throughout nine Midwestern states, as well as online classes and degrees. The widely diverse subjects, which include combination welding and web design, medical assistant and culinary essentials, lead to diplomas or associate degrees. One bachelor's degree is also available.

Vatterott College Overview

Headquartered in a suburb of St. Louis, Vatterott College is a private proprietary college business, one of the largest in the U.S. Each year more than 7,000 students attend one of their 22 colleges.

The school has had several different names since its establishment in 1969, and each of its campuses used to be defined as 'educational centers.' In 1989, the college was given the authority to confer associate degrees, and 'educational centers' was replaced by 'college.' The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) has accredited the college, and each campus also has licenses and certifications as required by the states in which they are located.

Admissions and Enrollment Overview

Every Vatterott campus has its own variation of the admissions procedure. Students are advised to call the campus they wish to attend in order to discover the exact method of applying for admission. Alternately, the Web page for each campus has an information request form that may be filled out.

Campus Facilities and Learning Environment

With so many locations, each offering its own range of courses, every campus is unique. Each college has classrooms as well as custom-fitted laboratories that contain computers, mechanics and HVAC equipment, medical facilities and more. Some campuses have a physical library; however, all have access to online databases, full-text journals, books and other services through EBSCO.

Class sizes at Vatterott range from fewer than ten to 50 students. The average ratio of student to faculty also varies from campus to campus--from 53:1 on the Joplin campus to 12:1 in Omaha.
