Montclair State University Overview

Montclair State University was founded in 1908 as the New Jersey State Normal School at Montclair. It currently confers bachelor's degrees, post-baccalaureate certificates, master's degrees, post-master's certificates and doctoral degrees. The school offers almost 300 programs. Most degrees conferred by Montclair State University are earned through the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The school is ranked highly by U.S. News & World Report in comparison with similar regional schools.

With an enrollment of 17,500, Montclair State University's student body has 13,725 undergraduates, more than three-quarters of whom study full time. About half the student body is white and two-thirds are female. About 75% of graduate students are enrolled in part time study.
