Golden Gate University Review
Golden Gate University, with a primary campus in San Francisco and additional teaching locations statewide, is one of the oldest post-secondary schools in California. It specializes in business, management, law, taxation and IT programs for working adults.
Golden Gate University Overview
Golden Gate University is a 4-year private nonprofit school that has been educating Californians through evening educational opportunities since the mid-19th century, first through the YMCA, then as a college and now a university in its own right. Golden Gate University's main campus is located in the city of San Francisco. Additional teaching sites are located in Los Angeles, Monterey, Roseville, San Jose and Walnut Creek, California. The school has one out-of-state teaching site in Seattle, Washington. Golden Gate University offers distance-learning programs via the Internet through its CyberCampus.
Golden Gate University offers nine undergraduate certificates, four undergraduate degrees in eight concentrations and more than 20 graduate degrees in 26 concentrations. Professional degrees offered include the Juris Doctor, Master of Laws and Doctor of Juridical Science. In addition to business, taxation, information technology and related programs, Golden Gate University also offers undergraduate English, math and liberal studies programs.
Most classes, including law school classes, are held at the San Francisco campus; at this location, students can also find administrative and student support services and the school's University Library and its law library. Golden Gate University's teaching sites offer limited services, typically just classrooms and at the Los Angeles site, a computer lab as well. Students learning at teaching sites can get advisement and other services by phone or Internet.
Admissions and Enrollment Overview
Golden Gate University, home to more than 4,000 graduate students, accepts applications by mail or online. Application materials include transcripts, personal statements, letters of recommendation, resumes, test scores and in-person interviews. Financial aid is typically arranged through federal or private loans, state grants, school-sponsored scholarships or reimbursement from employers.
Golden Gate University's more than 650 undergraduate students participate in the school's Gateway to Success class where they can develop their career skills and goals. Both graduate and undergraduate students take part in placement and proficiency testing when first enrolling in the school. In certain circumstances, Golden Gate University may make a conditional offer of acceptance after reviewing a prospective student's application; students can also participate in non-matriculated study through the Open Enrollment Program.
Campus Facilities and Learning Environment
