Eastern Kentucky University Overview
Originally founded in 1874, Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) was originally a teacher's college. In 1966, the university established its current name and expanded its degree offerings to other academic fields. EKU currently offers over 160 on-campus and online degree programs and has a student population of approximately 16,000.
University housing options include single-sex and co-ed residence halls and student apartments located across campus. EKU is also home to more than 150 student organizations and clubs in a variety of categories, including service, recreational sports, social fraternities and sororities, religious and governance.
