Berkeley College Review

Berkeley College is a for-profit, private school with seven locations across the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area. This school focuses on areas of business, including accounting, financial services and management.

Berkeley College Overview

Berkeley College was founded in 1931 for students of business and it offers associate and bachelor's degrees. Its campus locations are located throughout New York City and the suburban area, including New Jersey. New York campuses are located in Midtown Manhattan, Lower Manhattan and White Plains, New York. New Jersey campuses are in Newark, Paramus, Woodland Park and Woodbridge Township.

The school enrolls about 7,000 students between all its locations and about 70% of those are receiving their bachelor's degrees. Degree programs include marketing, international business, information systems management, paralegal studies, fashion marketing and health services. Berkeley is dedicated to continuing education and offers classes for working adults. Online degrees are also available.

Admissions and Enrollment Overview

Students applying to Berkeley College must complete the school's application for admission. In the application, students will include a high school diploma or equivalent. This process is the same regardless of whether students are applying out of high school or as adult students, transfer students; admission for an online degree is also the same. Financial aid is readily available and the school accepts the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This school's website features several videos explaining how the federal student aid works and how to fill out the application.

Campus Facilities and Learning Environment

Berkeley College has several honor societies for students based on their area of study. These societies include Sigma Beta Delta for students of business and Lambda Epsilon Chi for students who've excelled in paralegal studies. Each campus features secure housing, though most students are commuters.

Several students on the school's campuses take part in community service, as well. Some of the service programs include Habitat for Humanity, the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes, the American Conference on Diversity, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the American Red Cross and Community Blood Services. Many courses also offer an academic service learning program, which allows the student to earn credits by taking part in community tutoring or counseling.
