Working With Children/Young People (Roles and Responsibilities): Course Description

In this free course, students learn to analyze the specific parts people play in advising or guiding children and what these roles actually mean. This OpenCourseWare describes the types of relationships that are formed and the issues that arise for mentors, advocates, allies, supervisors and others who work with kids. Each role is broken down into individual actions, specific characters and philosophies. In analyzing the various roles, Working With Children/Young People reveals the values that adults carry into their relationships with young people. An overall look at the part played by organizations and projects related to children is also studied in this course.
