Urban Housing (Paris, London, New York): Course Description

'Urban Housing: Paris, London, New York' OpenCourseWare focuses on the history of city home design. The progress of housing models is traced over the past four centuries, ending with a discussion of projects in modern housing. The course uses various types of housing models in the cities of New York, London and Paris as the focus of discussions. The urban ramifications of these models are also examined. MIT Prof. Michael Dennis taught the original on-campus course and is the author of Court and Garden: from the French Hotel to the City of Modern Architecture, one of the recommended books. This is a graduate-level course intended for students majoring in Architecture and or Urbanism. The course is presented in a seminar style on the MIT campus.
