Transportation Policy and Environmental Limits: Course Description
Study the true effects of environmental issues that stem from transportation, including water and air pollution, and ways to affect positive changes in transportation policy. This course focuses on the connections between environmental and transportation policies. It is offered by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)'s School of Engineering in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Students study problems associated with automobile transportation, including air, water and noise pollution, safety and the dependence on oil. The costs of automobile transportation, changes which can reduce theses costs, including taxes carpooling, and the challenges associated with implementing these changes are also part of the course. The course extends beyond automobile transportation to include information on aviation transportation, airplane history, safety and pollution. MIT Professors Joseph Coughlin and Frederick Salvucci teach this OpenCourseWare on policies related to transportation, the environment and their relationship.
