The Age of Reason: Europe in the 18th and 19th Centuries: Course Description

'The Age of Reason: Europe in the 18th and 19th Centuries' is taught by Professor Jeffery S. Ravel and is designed for students with an interest in European history. This course will attempt to find whether there was a definable age of reason in European history. The course focuses on the period between 1600 and 1850 and examines disciplines that evolved during this time. These disciplines include art, literature, politics, music, theater and culture. Students will also take into account people who opposed change based on radical and traditional grounds. The course includes four 5-page essays and class participation.
