Discover the finer points of linear algebra through eight different lessons that cover special topics like linear and vector transformations, their symmetry and components. Students also study the calculus of vector and tensor fields, orthogonal curvilinear coordinates, tensor relations and calculus of variations. This free OpenCourseWare provided by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)'s School of Engineering provides an overview of different special math topics. In addition to learning the theory behind the subject, students study relevant examples and apply them to engineering concepts. MIT Professor Rohan Abeyaratne teaches this course about special topics in mathematics and their applications in 14 different lessons in this class.
