Students taking part in MIT's 'The Renaissance, (1300-1600)' OpenCourseWare project will learn about the history of the humanist movement at the heart of the Renaissance. Specific topics to be covered include civic humanism, art and culture in the 15th Century and the age of reformations. This course is for students pursuing an undergraduate degree in History.

The Renaissance, (1300-1600): Course Description

'The Renaissance, (1300-1600)' is taught by Professor Jeffrey Ravel and is designed for students with an interest in understanding more about the Renaissance movement from 1300 to 1600. Students taking this course will learn more about the intellectual tendency known as humanism or studia humanitatis, which was at the heart of the literary, scientific and artistic movements during the Renaissance. Other course topics include high politics, the agrarian world, European conquest and expansion and the reformations. The course includes six 2-page papers, a map quiz, a long paper and a final exam.
