Queues (Theory and Applications): Course Description

'Queues: Theory and Applications' is designed to familiarize students with the ways that queueing systems are modeled and analyzed. Queueing systems are used by any industry or company that needs to manage a large number of units over time, such as in the manufacturing, transportation, communications, computers, services and call centers industries. 'Queues: Theory and Applications' introduces students to queue networks, multiserver queues, fluid models, traffic limits, multiclass networks, distribution laws and PASTA. The original course was delivered in a lecture format and was taught by Professor David Gamarnik and graduate student Premal Shah from a set of notes by Professor Dimitris Bertsimas. In order to complete the project, MATLAB by MathWorks is needed.

The OpenCourseWare format allows the public to download the course problem sets, exams and project and the names of additional texts are provided. If you'd like to learn more about the theory and applications of queues, please visit the queues - application and theory course page.
