Approaching Prose Fiction: Course Description

This course aims to provide you with a better understanding and appreciation of the English literary canon. The course introduces literary tools, terms and techniques used when closely examining prose and poetry language. In-class theory is reinforced by studying a few selected literary works from the Renaissance period to the present. Specific topics include genre, narrative events, characterization and language and style among other topics. The original course was designed for English, literature and humanities students.
