Problems in the Design of Epidemiologic Studies (Grant Writing): Course Description
Apply what you've learned in previous epidemiology courses to apply for a research grant and conduct a case study. This free OpenCourseWare from Johns Hopkins University's School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, allows students to develop a mock research grant, complete with their goals and hypotheses, how they intend to conduct the study and provide follow-up. Students will submit their grants to their peers and review each others' grants. This allows students to see how the process works and the problems and challenges associated with it. The course covers what grant reviewers focus on, how to make a proposal stand out and information that must be included. This course, taught by David Celentano, Sc.D., is a guide to the process of applying for a research grant in epidemiologic studies. Students will be prepared for a future in research science and will be ahead of the curve when it comes to writing and receiving grants and other funding.
