Organizations and Environments: Course Description

'Organizations and Environments' OpenCourseWare is an introduction to the field of Organization Theory. Class lectures focus on the theoretical side rather than looking at issues in methodology. Organization Theory is an interdisciplinary field; therefore, class readings are taken from the fields of sociology, applied psychology and political science. Professor Pablo Boczkowski taught the original course. Through this lecture format course, students learn about modern day and historical developments in organization theory, organizational life and technology, and current debates in the field of Organization Theory. The course also examines cultural, institutional and economic contexts facing organizations. This course is for doctorate students in a Behavioral and Policy Sciences degree program.
