Optimization Methods: Course Description

'Optimization Methods' was offered for graduate students in the Sloan School of Management at MIT. Professor Dimitris Bertsimas taught the original lecture-based class. 'Optimization Methods' familiarized students with computational models that undergird the science of optimization, and it introduced the primary algorithms for optimal control and various types of optimization. Students also study optimality conditions for Newton's methods, nonlinear optimization and dynamic programming. In addition, the lecture notes outline topics like duality theory, network optimization and semidefinite optimization.

Class lecture notes, recitation and assignments (some with solutions) and a midterm exam are all included with 'Optimization Methods' OpenCourseWare. To learn more about this course, visit optimization algorithms and applications course page.
