Networks (Theory and Application): Course Description

Learn about co-authorship; citation networks; and online, blogging and world wide web content in this free OpenCourseWare offered by the University of Michigan. The original 'Networks: Theory and Application' seminar computer lab course was taught by Professor Lada A. Adamic. The University of Michigan offered this optional grad-level course to students pursuing certain Master of Science in Information degree concentrations. The coursework focused on information retrieval applications and software analysis tools used to test a broad range of real-world information. Metrics and models were also covered in the original class. The fundamentals of algorithms and mathematical models were a secondary, not primary, focus of lecture materials. 'Networks: Theory and Application' students applied class concepts to networks of interest for their final projects.

This free OpenCourseWare includes lecture notes, old exams, detailed online network analysis demonstrations, student project examples from previous semesters and a short biography of the course professor.
