Nazi Germany and the Holocaust: Course Description

'Nazi Germany and the Holocaust' is taught by Professor David Ciarlo and is designed for students with an interest in the history of Nazism, its rise to power and its perpetration of the Holocaust. The rise of National Socialism in Germany and how it gave rise to the Nazi movement will be considered. Cultural, social and political aspects of National Socialism will be covered.

This will allow students to consider Nazism within its proper historical context. The final third of the class will be devoted to studying the Holocaust and determining whether this horrific act was part of 'modernity' or a deviation from it. The course concludes with three short papers and a final exam.
