Special Seminar in Marketing Management: Course Description

'Special Seminar in Marketing Management' explores the four P's of marketing--product, pricing, promotion and placement--in both academic and practical terms as they relate to generating value associated with a brand. The seminar was taught by professors Dan Ariely and Michael Norton, introducing terminology and key concepts necessary for master's degree-level marketing and management study. Real-world case studies illustrate the theoretical points. Full citations for the case studies are included in the OpenCourseWare. Projects encourage students to think critically about advertising and to carry out their own market research and branding exercises incorporating the theories presented. The seminar highlights e-commerce and online marketing. Acquaintance with simple concepts of statistics and economics is helpful, but no prior knowledge of business or marketing is required.

This free OpenCourseWare includes presentation slides from lectures, case study citations, exams and project guidelines. To take this seminar, go to the advertising and market research course page.
