Manicurist Program Details

Manicurists may complete a certificate program specializing in manicures and pedicures or an associate's degree program in cosmetology. Certificate programs for manicurists train students for entry-level employment as a manicure technician or nail technician. These programs also prepare students to pass state-mandated licensing examinations. However, manicurists interested in running a full-service hair and nail salon may find an associate's degree program in cosmetology beneficial. Manicurist Certificate Program Details

This degree program not only provides manicurists with state-of-the-art knowledge about nail care and design, but also offers a broader knowledge of salon management, hair styling and skin care techniques. Students in an associate's degree program in cosmetology take courses in hair cutting, hair styling, skin and scalp analysis, permanent waving techniques, chemical relaxing applications and skin care analysis. Students also may study salon ethics, salon management, business mathematics and human relations.
