Electromagnetism II: Course Description

In this OpenCourseWare, students will advance in their research of electromagnetism by exploring its most essential concepts. Topics include electrostatics, relativistic electrodynamics and magnetostatics. Columb's and Gauss' laws will be studied as well, providing the reader with historical contexts for the development of this research field. Students will also explore the mathematical aspects of this subject by utilizing delta function, vector calculus and Maxwell's equations. Professor Edmund Bertschinger presents this course in lecture format, providing a comprehensive reading list pertaining to the subject matter. Also included are practice exams from several years of the on-campus course. The course website recommends that students take 'Physics III' and 'Differential Equations' as prerequisites.

Sample tests, problem set homework assignments and the reading list are all available for free online. Students interested in this course should visit the Electromagnetism course home page.
