Special Topics in Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences: Course Description

This OpenCourseWare from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology helps students understand the surface of the earth. Topics include soil and soil erosion, groundwater flow, streams and lakes, precipitation and glaciers. Looking at the earth's surface from the perspective of soil science, geology, hydrology and climatology, the course covers basic concepts related to the earth's surface. This provides foundational understanding necessary to manage the earth's physical and chemical environment. MIT Professor John Southard teaches this free undergraduate earth science class.
