Principles and Practice of Drug Development: Course Description

The 'Principles and Practice of Drug Development' OpenCourseWare provided by MIT engages students in the process of drug development. This process begins with drug discovery and preclinical development. Moving on to clinical investigation and drug manufacturing, students will learn how a drug comes to market. This Chemical Engineering course was led on the MIT campus by Professors Tom Allen, Charles Cooney and Anthony Sinskey, along with Doctors Stan Finkelstein and Robert Rubin. They lectured on topics including the pharmaceutical industry, emerging technologies, issues in the industry, molecular toxicology, manufacturing, and valuing pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
