Database, Internet and Systems Integration Technologies: Course Description

The Internet has sparked an explosion of technology development. Keeping pace with Internet technology is the storage of information in databases. A natural byproduct of the variety of Internet and database technologies is the need to seamlessly integrate these technologies in useful and unique ways. This is where systems integration comes in. Systems integration is the combining and testing of different systems, or a variety of characteristics of those systems, into one functional, comprehensive system. Essentially, databases store a lot of information, the Internet makes that information available to people and system integration makes sure these systems work together. This OpenCourseWare is an intensive review of specific database, Internet and system integration technologies with topics in security, system integration, data communications, software development methods, Web development and standards, application development and databases and data modeling. The course targeted IT students. No prior programming experience was necessary, only familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Word. The actual course was taught by Dr. George Kocur in both lecture and recitation (computer lab) format.

This OpenCourseWare includes exams and solutions, a reading list, class assignments, lecture notes and recitation (computer lab) notes. If you are interested in taking this free course, visit Internet technologies course page.
