Challenging Ideas in Mental Health Course Description:

'Challenging Ideas in Mental Health' is offered through the Health and Lifestyle Department at The Open University. This undergraduate-level course explores changes in the discipline of mental health over the last two decades and works to dispel myths that hold back the treatment of patients and the field in general. Students are encouraged to critically analyze both past and present mental health beliefs. Class topics include a discussion of the monetization of mental health disorders at the expense of patients, an introduction to mental health issues and prescription medications used to treat mental health disorders. This self-directed course is expected to take 18 hours to complete.
