Calculus I: Course Description

Dixie State College of Utah's 'Calculus I' course, which is now available as OpenCourseWare, introduces the basic principles of calculus to students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Engineering or any other degree for which calculus is essential. You should already have college-level knowledge of algebra and trigonometry to benefit from this online class. 'Calculus I' (taught by Dr. Costel Ionita, a Mathematics Department faculty member) covers a range of topics, including limits, continuity, differentiation, integration derivatives, graphing techniques, hyperbolic functions and much more. By the end of the course, you'll be able to solve advanced math problems using L'Hospital's Rule and derivatives and use a graphing calculator. Lecture notes covering topics from limits to integrals are helpful study materials, and you can test your newfound knowledge with downloadable quizzes and exams.

The 'Calculus I' OpenCourseWare package is comprised of a syllabus and course schedule, 11 sets of lecture notes on various topics, five tests, a copy of the final exam and links to other math-related resources on the Web. Find out more by visiting the introduction to calculus course page.
