Associate of Science in Audio Technology

In an associate's degree program in Audio technology, students learn to produce sophisticated audio effects heard by millions of people every day. These include the sound heard on CDs and DVDs, live sound, television and movies. Students learn sound theory, music theory, synthesis and orchestration; they also work together to gain collaborative hands-on experience. With an associate's degree, graduates can work entry-level positions in audio systems design, manufacturing and operation, as well as other industries associated with audio engineering.

Bachelor of Science in Audio Technology

Most students looking to gain a bachelor's degree in Audio Technology have to complete an interview or audition to gain acceptance.A number of schools' programs now include recording studios and sound stages. Students learn to track, mix and provide sound effects for commercial music, film and theater. Courses include sound synthesis, digital audio, multi-track audio production and electronics. Students are highly encouraged, if not required, to gain an internship within their final two years.
