Ambient Intelligence: Course Description

'Ambient Intelligence' OpenCourseWare is an overview of the current concept for HCI (Human-Computer Interaction). The original course, taught by Professor Patricia Maes in a lecture format, seeks to understand enabling technologies and goes on to study applications and experiments. The course looks at related areas, such as smart environments, augmented and blended realities, wearable computing, ubiquitous computing and intelligent interfaces. Lectures and assignments predominately cover how systems work and interact with humans and briefly touch on the social and cultural impact of these interactions. Projects encourage students to develop their own innovative technology and its uses.

In this free OpenCourseWare, you'll find a selection of lecture notes, a reading list with students' responses, web links to available readings and completed projects. If you're interested in taking this free course, visit the human-computer interaction course page.
