Airline Schedule Planning: Course Description

Techniques for optimization and modeling to resolve airline issues (planning and scheduling) are explored in the free OpenCourseWare, 'Airline Schedule Planning,' offered through MIT. Taught by Professor Cynthia Barnhart, this course explores a variety of airline topics, including fleet assignment, schedule design, crew scheduling, aircraft maintenance routing and passenger mix. Current algorithms and models are employed to address operations recovery and model integration issues. The original class was an elective option in various MIT Civil and Environmental Engineering Department's graduate programs.
