Advanced Structural Dynamics and Acoustics OpenCourseWare: A Free MIT Grad-Level Ocean Engineering Course
Students taking part in the 'Advanced Structural Dynamics and Acoustics' OpenCourseWare project will learn about a range of topics related to acoustics and advanced structural dynamics of waves. Some of the topics include fluid and elastic wave equations, foundations of 3D elasticity and elastic and plastic waves in rods and beams. A background in Ocean and Mechanical Engineering is required for this course.

Advanced Structural Dynamics and Acoustics: Course Description
'Advanced Structural Dynamics and Acoustics' is taught by Professors Henrik Schmidt, Tomasz Wierzbicki and Dr. David Battle. The course is designed for students with an interest in the technical engineering aspects of wave behavior. The course is split into two components. The first segment covers structural dynamics and the second segment covers acoustics. It is important to note that only the study materials for the second segment of this course, acoustics, is available on the website. The course material for structural dynamics has yet to be added. Topics discussed during the course of this OpenCourseWare project include the damage of structure as a result of impact and implosive loads, interaction between structural elements and dynamics and acoustics of cylindrical shells.
