Teaching College Level Science: Course Description

Learn how to create an effective learning environment for your students that encourages communication, learning and interest. This free OpenCourseWare is offered by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)'s School of Science in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and provides students with techniques that include developing lectures, delivery, visual aids and encouraging student involvement. Learn to develop learning objectives for students that include not only the skills they should achieve through the course, but the knowledge they will gain and a confidence that comes from knowing they can perform the skills taught. This requires using measurable outcomes, communicating with your students to know how they learn best and incorporating techniques that are helpful to them. Dr. Lori Breslow teaches this MIT course on techniques for teaching college-level science that allows students to learn by doing.

Lectures, notes and some study materials are available free online. For more information, visit the teaching college level science course page for more information.
