The Open University offers its 'Systems Modeling' course as free OpenCourseWare (OCW). Systems Modeling: Course Description
Models, or representations of reality on a smaller and more focused scale, are essential in understanding complex systems. This is especially true if the goal of understanding is to solve an issue in the system, such as controlling traffic congestion in a major metropolitan area. This OpenCourseWare introduces the basics of systems modeling and provides examples of real-life situations. Specific topics include quantitative systems, mental models, model definition and general model categories among other topics. Though students of many disciplines may benefit from the course, the original course was designed for engineering, financial and business students. It was delivered in a lecture format.
