Systems Diagramming: Course Description
We are constantly exposed to external and internal diagrams, or models, on a daily basis. External diagrams provide information, such as a subway map. Internal diagrams provide guidance on how things work (or should work), which takes into account our experiences and our understanding of those experiences. This course first aims to enhance your innate understanding of diagrams. Then, the course applies that knowledge of diagrams to complex systems, with the focus being on understanding, creating, and using diagrams to explain complex systems, processes and structures. Specific topics include systems diagrams; reading diagrams; conveying information; process and structure; diagram features; and diagrams for diagnosis, understanding, planning and connectivity. The original course is designed for students of all engineering disciplines.
