Numerical Analysis for Engineering OpenCourseWare: MIT's Free Undergraduate Engineering Class on Numerical Analysis
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) offers this free OpenCourseWare (OCW) to the general public titled 'Numerical Analysis for Engineering'; the material in this OCW comes from the actual MIT course of the same name. The course is designed for mechanical engineering students and introduces them to them to programming and algorithm creation for the purpose of creating stable solutions to engineering problems.

Introduction to Numerical Analysis for Engineering: Course Description
In computing systems, numbers that have no simple value are given decimal approximations to a very high degree of accuracy. In addition, students writing computer programs to solve engineering problems must be aware of the approximations they use in their own programs so that errors are not multiplied throughout the often lengthy calculations. This class teaches awareness of how computers handle numbers and development of precise and constant algorithms. Specific topics include ordinary differential equations, linear systems, computer architecture, propagation of errors, special matrices, Lagrange interpolation, minimization problems and error estimates among other topics. While the course is directed towards mechanical engineering students, the subject is applicable towards all engineering disciplines. Specialized software called MATLAB is needed to view many files in this OpenCourseWare. The actual undergraduate MIT course is taught by Professor Henrik Schmidt in a lecture-style format.
This OpenCourseWare includes a class survey, an exam, a MATLAB basics file, assignments and solutions and lecture slides and accompanying MATLAB files. If you're interested in taking this free course, visit the numerical analysis course page.
