Introduction to Health Policy: Course Description

There are several issues associated with health policies across the board, many of which are addressed in this OpenCourseWare. Many health care professionals return to a neighborhood similar to the one in which they grew up, so providing opportunities for students from low-income areas to earn degrees in public health can lead to better healthcare in those areas. This OpenCourseWare, provided by Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, looks into things that affect the quality of public health and policies as well as how change is influenced. Students learn about the level of quality care provided to different areas as well as how quality care is provided. Health policy is also examined from a historical and ethical perspective to determine its role in public health. University professor Gerard Anderson, Ph.D., teaches this introductory health policy course.
