Foundations of Human Memory and Learning: Course Description

A literature survey OpenCourseWare, ' Human Memory and Learning' examines the available literature and research in cognitive neuroscience relating to memory. Types of memory included in the survey are short term, episodic and non-declarative memory. Faults with memory, including types of amnesia, false memories and memory problems associated with medical conditions, are touched on. The recommended textbook provides a foundation in the concepts important to memory and cognition study. Supplementary readings in neuroscience come from PubMed. The written assignment allows students to think critically about current neuroscience research by writing a summary and critique of a published paper. Professor Anthony Wagner taught 'Human Memory and Learning' at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as part of the bachelor's degree program in brain and cognitive science.

The OpenCourseWare includes written assignment guidelines, textbook recommendations and supplementary readings. If you are interested in 'Human Memory and Learning,' download OpenCourseWare materials at the learning and memory course page.
