Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Data Acquisition and Analysis: Course Description
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a state of the art medical technology that utilizes magnets, radio wave pulses and the body's natural magnetic properties to create sharp, detailed images of organ systems and soft tissues. 'Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging' focuses on the use of this technology to produce images of the brain to determine what region of the brain is responsible for a variety of functions. Students will learn the fundamentals of fMRI, the physics of fMRI, the process of image contrast and the biological basis of image signals. Additional topics discussed include data analysis, statistical model designs and ethical issues that arise from the use of human subjects.
The course materials include downloadable PDF files for the lectures, labs, assignments, discussions and exams. If you would like to take advantage of this free course, visit the functional magnetic resonance imaging course page.
