Environmental Policy and Economics: Course Description
MIT's original 'Environmental Policy and Economics' course helped students evaluate complex policy decisions about environmental protection. Since protecting the environment can negatively impact economic growth, students learned how to take these unintended consequences into account. 'Environmental Policy and Economics' students also learned to examine the human impact of environmental degradation. Professor Michael Greenstone designed the course to help students think critically about environmental policy and use statistical methods to weigh the costs and benefits of specific environmental regulations. This lecture course was optionally offered for students pursuing a bachelor's degree in Economics from MIT.
