Cell Biology: Course Description
Animal cells serve as the focus for this OpenCourseWare. Students examine components within cells and consider each component's function. This course begins by exploring the structure of biological membranes, lipids and membrane proteins. Other topics include protein secretion, regulation of DNA replication, meiosis, protein modifications and nerve cells. Participants of this OpenCourseWare can reinforce the course concepts with a unique set of links to online resources. These resources feature videos that illustrate key topics. Professors Terry Orr-Weaver and Hidde Ploegh present this OpenCourseWare in lecture format and recommend taking 'Introductory Biology,' 'Genetics' and 'General Biochemistry' as prerequisites.
Materials for this course include links to videos, homework assignments, handouts and practice exams. Students interested in this OpenCourseWare can find more information on the Cell Biology course home page.
