Biological Chemistry II: Course Description
This OpenCourseWare provides an in-depth look at the chemical behaviors of cells within various organisms. Students examine experimental techniques used for the analysis of these behaviors. Coursework is divided into four modules and begins by exploring the size and components of cells. Topics from the second module deal with synthases, secondary metabolism and cholesterol biosynthesis. The latter portions of this OpenCourseWare cover translation and its chemical methods, G proteins and proteosomes. Professors Joanne Stubbe and Alice Ting present this course in lecture format and provide notes for each lecture topic. Participants also use RasMol software, which serves as a visualization tool for some of the molecular concepts taught in this OpenCourseWare.
