Architecture Studio: Building in Landscapes: Course Description
Landscape architecture is the process of bring together creativity, technology and science to plan, design and mold physical settings, including community developments, park systems, college campuses, golf courses, resorts, office parks, wetlands, waterfronts and more. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Department of Architecture provides this OpenCourseWare, 'Architecture Studio: Building in Landscapes.' The course focuses on the skill set and knowledge that landscape architects need for designing everything from small sites to large regions. This course places an emphasis on how to analyze the setting, assess the climate and visualize design ideas. The lecturer, Professor Alan Joslin's objective is to develop students' awareness and skills for identifying the unique qualities of a setting while incorporating the values of the residents. Students will also study the variety of construction materials used and their properties.
