Applied Nuclear Physics: Course Description

Professor Sidney Yip taught 'Applied Nuclear Physics' for MIT's Nuclear Science and Engineering Department. The course familiarized graduate engineering students with nuclear physics concepts, such as fundamental properties of nuclear radiations and the nucleus, cross section of n-p scattering and probability of barrier transmission. It is a foundational examination of nuclear radiations (charged particles, gamma rays and neutrons) and how they interact with matter. The course will focus on basic concepts of the phenomena of reactive collision and nuclear stability involving elementary classical and quantum mechanics.
