American Foreign Policy: Theory and Method: Course Description

Professor Stephen Van Evera has created a course for students seeking a more in-depth look at the foreign policy of the U.S. The course examines U.S. foreign policy from 1898 onwards. Topics include theories in foreign policy of the U.S., historical policies in action, assessment of past significant policies, such as 'war on terror' and the current state of policy debate. Students use various methods to look at the U.S. foreign policy, including case studies. Various historical events, including the Korean, Cold and Iraq wars, are used as case studies. This is a reading heavy graduate lecture course open to undergrads.
